OUR WINES

2011 Matela Teroldego

Our second vintage of Teroldego from Le Bon Climat vineyard is very expressive of the year.  2011 was atypical for this late ripening variety which peaked at 22 Brix.  This lower sugar level showcases the natural high acidity which is standard for this varietal.  Strong floral aromatics with fresh plum and pomegranate start out with first tilt of your glass, leading the way to leather and earthiness.  Cured meats, iron and bright cherry notes linger on the palate providing a long satisfying finish.

2014 Old Fashioned Superstition Syrah

The 2014 vintage was a great one.  This wine has beautiful acidity, balance and color.  After aging almost for two years in François Freres 500L barrels Kris decided this wine was ready for bottle.  Just in time too, because we sold out of the previous vintage a couple weeks before!  After bottling aging for 5 months, the new Old Fashioned Superstition will not disappoint.  It has a gorgeous dark garnet color leads the presentation of this elegant wine while aromatically evoking fresh rose petals and black cherry.  On the pour, it opens to a smooth raspberry jam and smoked bacon nose.  The cooler vineyard site provides bright acidity on the palate, commingled with baking spices, earth and a wonderfully long black cherry finish.

2014 Unforeseen Alchemy Red Blend

Our exciting new project is a blend of 50% Syrah and 50% Teroldego.  Our new blend showcases a youthful Teroldego with two Syrahs.  When we had a barrel of Syrah blended from Presqu’ile and Tierra Alta vineyards we knew we wanted to add it to some Le Bon Climat vineyard Teroldego.  This vintage showed perfectly with a barrel of each varietal, as the warmer 2014 vintage get the Teroldego a beautiful weight to blend with the Syrah. This dark pomegranate colored wine has black cherry and blackberry jam notes on the nose, with subtle hints of crushed rock and earth that linger.  Bright acidity, mild tannins and a long finish lead this new world wine to finish on an old world note.
